Off Grid with a Christmas twist

Thu Dec 17, 2015 4:00 am

This is one of our newest sites. Much like the other it's completely off grid and uses only solar.

For Batteries we use eight 6volt GC2 (225 AH) hooked in series and parallel for a 12v bank.

For charging we have 4 evergreen electric 210w panels and we use SES Flexcharge charge controllers on all our sites.

The site is ran by one WS-12-250 switch and a Mikrotik RB2011 at the site for routing.

On this particular site we've decorated the tower as a giant cross and we use the PoE scheduling feature of the WS to actuate a relay the turns a inverter on and off to power the Christmas lights that make up the cross. Who would have thought a WS as a glorified Christmas light timer! :yikes:
