Powering a WS-8-250-AC

Good day all

Not sure if anyone has asked this dumb question so i figured i would ask here and see if it's possible.

Current set up is a WS-8-250-AC switch powering up a WS-6-Mini switch.

I have ran out of available ports on the mini and need more, so was wondering do i just install 2nd mini switch on the tower and be done or can i swap out the WS-6-Mini with a WS-8-250-AC as i only need 2 more ports to power up devices on this tower? Not willing to take the risk of burning up the 8 port switch by supplying 48HV into port 1.. so has anyone done this ???

Know that the first answer is going to possibly be the fan needs air movement, i have a fairly large weather-proof box on this tower 12x12 box and could install bigger one if this is the only issue.

The WS-8-250-"AC" is an AC powered switch only and can NOT be powered with POE "IN" on port 1

The WS-6-MINI is the only switch we offer that can be powered by POE "in" on Port 1

Also note that Port 2 of the MINI only offers 24VH and 48VH on port 2, you can NOT power airMAX radios with 24VH, the only radio on the market that can use 24VH is the airFIBER X line.

Also do not try to power another WS-6-MINI from port 2 of the first WS-6-MINI (daisy chain) if you are powering several devices with the first WS-6-MINI unless you first check the WS-8-250-AC and see that the port powering the WS-6-MINI is using say 50 watts or less as Port 1 of the WS-8-250-AC can only deliver a total of 60 watts and if you push it harder than that you could damage the port in the WS-8-250-AC.


Now the WS-12-250-AC can push 80W+ on 48VH

I would run up another line for the second WS-6-MINI
