Evenly distribute bandwidth?

Wed Oct 14, 2015 3:55 pm

Hi. So I decided to upgrade my home network and ended up with a UBNT edge router lite, unifi AP and WS-12-250-ac switch. My question is: How do I go about setting it all up so my bandwidth is evenly shared between all devices??

I have upgraded the firmware on the switch and everything works but I find if I start a big download on my main PC that any wifi traffic that starts after is extremely slow. If I stop the download I can then get full speeds on all devices.

Sorry in advance for the stupid question but I don't think I've encountered this before with any of my old netgear wifi routers before.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know that with Mikrotik you can achieve that with PCQ, with EdgeRouter i think that you must create a queue with queue-type set to fair-queue but i m not 100% sure.

Ok thanks. I didn't realize it was a router thing. I'll look into it.
