SNMP not working

Wed Sep 23, 2015 12:02 am

Am I missing something with SNMP? I can not get it to work on any of the Netonix Switches I have in my network. I've tried several different programs that pull up the MIB and even just straight PHP snmpwalk. Nothing works.

You have to be doing something wrong as many people are using SNMP including my WISP?

What version of the firmware are you using?

What version of SNMP are you using?

If you are using a newer firmware you have to go under the Device/Configuration Tab and select SNMP v1 if your not using v2

Also if you are using v.1.3.X firmware we have a new MIB file and an Enterprise number which you can download here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=251

v1.3.2
v1 SNMP works.
v2 SNMP doesn't work.
Using Observium & The Dude as the servers.

Just upgraded to v1.3.3. No change.

v1 SNMP works.
v2 SNMP does not work.
Still trying via Observium & The Dude.

Here's the screen shot from The Dude showing that the interfaces just disappear and add themselves in again (using SNMPv2).
With v1 they stay all the time.

There are other people using SNMP v2 as in this post?
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1053&p=7937&hilit=snmp#p7921

I know we are not reporting the voltages that the guy wanted in the above post which is going to be fixed in v1.3.5

Or this guy asking that report some additional information but other than that he is using SNMP v2?

It works, but it cycles from working and showing the interface, to not working?

Within the switch logs I still see loads of these errors: could not handle packet from UDP client x.x.x.x:26072: Bad address

Well you're being more descriptive now! :ak:

I did a quick search of the forums and cam up with this post:

The only time I've seen this error is when The Dude is sending v1 packets and our switch is configured for v2c. Try installing 1.3.2 and change the SNMP version to v1 and see if that helps.

This thread is at this link: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=985&p=7534&hilit=SNMP#p7534
I am guessing here that the Dude is sending v1 packets to the switch which is configured for SNMP v2?
