Auto Backup

Mon Sep 14, 2015 11:31 am

I just wanted to clarify the auto backup settings and its functionality. I have listed in the "TFTP URL" box "tftp://10.1.1.1/Folder/Name.ncfg". Is this the correct syntax in this location. I have run the command from ssh and it runs just fine.

Also, does this automatic backup run nightly or just every new save? Just wanted to understand its use.

If it accepts the URL (ie the box does not turn red) then it is the correct format.

It happens on every save.

Try not putting on the ".ncfg" as I have this enabled on all our switches and it works great but the switch will put a ending to what you give it for the file name so it does not overwrite the previous file. The ending is a unique number I think it is the configuration number which is generated internally.

In testing it appears that it drops the file in the root tftp folder instead of the full path. So I see the file dumped at "tftp://10.1.1.1" instead of "tftp://10.1.1.1/folder/filename.

Also I tried omitting the file extension and it doesn't appear to automatically append the file name so it just shows up as "filename" instead of "filename.ncfg"

You can not provide a "path" with TFTP so it is just "IP or URL/filename"+what eric puts on the end if it

TFTP does not accept a path, it is the TFTP root folder only

This is not a bug but a limitation of TFTP and how it works
