Epmp is 803.3af compliant
430 is not 45 78, it's split pairs I think 4 7 + 5 8 - or something
450 is gig and this won't work

This is why I get testy when people say JUST ADD THIS TO THE DESIGN OR JUST BUILD THIS!
Sorry I touched off a short fuse... I was just brainstorming ideas.
Maybe we need to find a generic readymade housing?
I find it odd that Tycon doesn't make anything to fill the need. They do make some af/at to other voltage converters.

Maybe there's a good reason Tycon doesn't make them and neither should you. Anyway... don't beat me up for floating ideas.

Re: Canopy POE Support
Not beating you up, I just thought I would break it down so people understand that doing something that seems small can be very expensive.
Come on Les you know me, I have TERRIBLE AFFECT, just ask my wife.
But no seriously little things can be very expensive and I wanted to illustrate that for people so they understand why I do not just do something that seems to them to be so small and simple on a whim.
But to get an idea at what something like this would have to sell for look no further then UBNT's new Ethernet surge protector. NOT CHEAP

Not cheap to buy or not cheap to bring to market?
Certainly cannot be the former since it retails for $12.50 so you must mean the latter.

Canopy shops are used to paying a little more, the 600SS being $30.

Re: Canopy POE Support
So, my question here is this. Since the ePMP GPS radio is 802.3af compliant, and 802.3af standards allow for power on the blue and brown pair, do you still have to reverse the pin out or does it sense the reverse polarity correctly. If it doesn't, then can it really be called 802.3af compliant?

Re: Canopy POE Support
I thought I would throw this out there for anyone interested in using a WS to power ePMP. I bought some but haven't tested yet.
But someone on the WISPA forum posted about these,

Re: Canopy POE Support
I am currently powering a 450 AP using a polarity swap cable. Obviously can't do gig that way, but they work fine with passive 24 (29.5) V poe so they should work fine with passive. It would be really nice to be able to swap polarity in software, really really nice to be able to do gig poe, and REALLY REALLY REALLY SUPER FRIKEN AWSOME to do gig POE with timing.

ginovilla wrote:Can we get Canopy POE support on the WISP and Tower SW series? its 24 vdc reverse pins , That would expand your market share to Canopy and EPMP users
Just swap the blue and brown pair on one end of the cable. Works fine. Might want to "note the change" on the cable as to not send reverse polarity to something else.

Re: Canopy POE Support
we've been switching to the cambium EPMP from ubnt, it works fine with the wisp switch, swap the brown and blue pair and thats it. it works fine with gig like that as well. they also support 48v standard POE for the GPS synced aps. NOT THE CPES the ubnt just isn't handing the load/density we need in 2.4 the GPS has worked wonders for us.
as someone else mentioned, just swap the power (blue/ bluewhite with brown brownwhite) at the jumper going to the surge, that's how we do it as well.
also the cambium gear only needs 11.2volts to power on and work. takes 29.5v max.
we use a 12v PB battery to power up CPEs carry them around to test and lock in signal works on both UBNT and cambium radios (just gotta swap the power pairs around)
haven't setup the 450s yet, we are waiting for the 900 mhz version this fall :)))

Re: Canopy POE Support
I keep a big stock of these on hand to deal with standard canopy fsk, ap100, 430sm, 450sm, 450ap Etc,
not 430AP, 450i AP
Tycon Systems POE-XOVER-S Poe Shielded Voltage Crossover Cable
You can buy in bulk around $5.00 each and not bother Chris with redesigning his switch.
