VLAN Page - Nice to see port names

Tue May 19, 2015 9:47 am

I'm finding it harder and harder to know which VLANs I assign to which ports and find myself flipping back and forth between the two tabs. I'm not sure from a UI perspective where the port names could fit, but it sure would be helpful.

Try mousing over the port in the Christmas Tree and it displays the Port # and Port Name in a POP UP balloon

Yes I know... just hard to visualize what I need to do.

I take to writing all the ports and numbers down on paper :)

Well we have limited real estate there, another idea would be to open the switch UI twice?

I, like Matt had the same trouble keeping track of ports. Had not thought about mousing over at the top. I do like that I can switch tabs and not lose anything I've changed. The port name on the page would be nice. Just not sure how you would do it.

Yes, I'm also not sure where I'd recommend putting it on the page. It's really only an issue when configuring a switch from defaults with a bunch of VLANs on it.

As I suggested you can right click on the Tab (In Chrome anyway) and click Duplicate Tab.
Then drag one tab out of the window and drag to left side and drag the other to the right side.
Now you have 2 windows open to the same switch

NOW THIS MAY NOT WORK WELL WITH LAPTOPS BUT ON A DESKTOP THERE IS PLENTY OF REAL ESTATE

Yes with our UI you can change Tabs and not lose your place.

Also as I suggested the mouse over the Christmas Tree reveals the Port Name provided you save after naming the ports.
