I have a question about the DC Wisp switch or tower switch when it arrives.
If I am going to power a AirFiber5 what input voltage and current is required to power the switch and the AirFiber radio?
Will the switch up convert a lower voltage to the 48 VDC required or will it only down convert to lower voltages?

The DC WISP Switch does not care what input voltage it gets 9-60V it always outputs the voltages it is supposed to.
Yes it upconverts or downconverts on the fly, it is SMART.

Good to hear how SMART the switch will be when it arrives.
We have an upcoming installation where a 100 meter run of CAT5/6 will not be long enough. The AirFiber will be closer to 400 feet with the path the conduit will be run. If we can install a DC Power WISP switch at around the half way mark then all should be good. Running DC power with the ethernet in the same conduit should not be problem like it would be if it was AC power.

The lower the voltage the more heat that will be generated.
I would not put it up in the air 200 feet and feed it 12V.
What voltage are you planning to put on the wire and what gauge wire?

Power supply will be a 27.5 VDC. Actually it is two 27.5 VDC in the same rack mount unit running in parallel to redundancy. I can switch it to a 54 volt but would lose the redundancy. Output current is 20 AMP continuous and 25 AMP peak. Should be way more then needed to power a single AirFiber 5.

That voltage is fine (27V) but the higher one would be better, you can play around once you get one

It all depends on how the facility dealt with chassis/rack grounding.
Was DC negative or positive bonded to chassis/racks and or earth ground.
Obviously one can switch the cables positive with negative to feed our switch +48V so it comes down to how everything else in the facility.
Look, our switches expect 48V not -48V so it is easy enough to flip the cables now you need make sure how the facility dealt with Earth Ground and what if and voltage/polarity (if any) is bound to the chassis/racks.
