Thanks. I'd like to get on the list for the October version that can be DC powered. Hopefully it will be a version of the WS-12-250x that I can run DC into.
Tower Switch is interesting for new towers but for existing cabled towers, the Wisp Switch format with DC in would be awesome.
I'm happy to preorder but want to be sure to get the DC in version.

Well we should have DC versions by October but the current AC versions can be easily modified as long as you have 48V at your tower. It does void your warranty though.
You can run it on as low as 28Vdc but the switch will detect less than 45Vdc input and will disable in the UI your ability to select 48/50Vdc POE on any ports but will work fine to power 24Vdc POE devices.
The switch is pretty smart on what voltage is being input-ed into it. We monitor input voltage and adjust it's ability based on that information. We also monitor the on board DC to DC voltages on both buck converter channels and report this in the UI so you can see if there is anything wrong.
Fans are also monitored and periodically test themselves to determine if a fan is failing and will alert you to this via SMTP or SNMP. You do not want fans failing in a HOT box.
As a last ditch safe gaurd it will shut itself down to prevent thermal damage if fans are at maximum RPM but if the SOC or board or internal or power supply temperature exceeds maximum safe level of 70C. We do not advertise this temperature as operating temperature but all the board components are rated to 85C but we say 55C operating temperature.
We do log operating temperatures on the flash and running the switch this hot will void your warranty. We can pull this data from a dead board, sort of like our Black Box data!

Sounds really nice. What other big brotha info is stored
We run all of our towers at 24v but need for 48 is increasing. Guess we can install an upconverter to keep the UI on. If there was a way to keep the UI with 24v it would be great.
Edit:just reread your post. Disabling choosing 48v if less than 45v will work fine. We can turn DC up to 28-29v without up converting.

Will the switches have anything like the MT Split Horizon capability or port isolation?. This feature would be awesome!

Our switch core is capable of port isolation yes.
So far we have only implemented STP and RSTP but we could implement that in future firmware upgrades but first we want to get this switch out there so maybe in v2.0 of the firmware?
