WS-12-250-DC - EOL?

Fri May 06, 2022 6:22 am

Hello,

we're using some WS-12-250-DC and need at least three additional devices. Our order at distributor [1] (February 2022) just got cancelled. They told us the switch model got EOL and is no longer available at the manufacturer.

Is that true?

We urgently need additional DC switches; maybe the models WS-26-500-DC or WS-8-150-DC could also be an alternative. If WS-12-250-DC are truely got EOL:

Are these models also EOL?

Will there be an alternative?

No nothing has been EOL.

We simply can not get parts.

There are many posts I have put up explaining this like these:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7356&p=36339&hilit=CCP#p36339

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7369#p36439

viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7359&p=36413&hilit=CCP#p36413

Now with that said we have "some" of the following units coming available over the next 2 weeks:
WS-12-250-AC
WS-12-250-DC
WS-12-DC

WS-26-400-AC
WS-26-400-IDC
WS-26-500-DC

Now the above are regular models WITH current sensors not NCS versions.

To give you an idea normally each current sensor costs us $1.22 each but the only way we could get these was buy from brokers and paid $3.22 - $4.33 each.

It will not be a lot and we are sending some (not a lot we simply do not have them) out to our largest Distributors and the rest will be put up on the site in small batches every so many days for a first come first serve.

There is no fair way to allow pre-orders cause I have demand for tens of thousands of each model.

ALSO BE AWARE THE PRICES WILL BE GOING UP "AGAIN" ROUGHLY 10-12% AS OUR COSTS ARE GOING UP.

Basically the new current prices will be up 25% from our original pricing which is really what inflation TRULY is.

Also keep you eye on price of diesel fuel which is the life blood of shipping, farming, and so on. Latest reports are that our reserve stock on hand in the US is now less than normal and we could end up see fuel rationing.

LETS GO BRANDON and I MISS MEAN TWEETS

Thanks for your fast response.

We just saw some changes of the mentioned products in the shop availability, but unfortunately the WS-12-250-DC and other products which are marked as "in stock" will respond with "the requested qty is not available" when add-to-cart button ist pressed.

Just to be sure: Are them already sold out?

What's keeping us from using a DC power supply for WS-12-250-DC if WS-12-DC is unavailable? Is it just the silliness of stacking two power supplies on each other, or would the supplies be fighting over something internally?

To date I have all my switches mounted up by the radios in outdoor enclosures, so the AC models are a no-go, and DC is generally POE everywhere else.

A DC power supply has to be sized large enough to account for inrush. When connected directly to a battery bank, the batteries satisfy the inrush demand.

To answer myself and for future readers,

Others posted about using decent 48v power supplies (Meanwell for example) without issue. I accordingly have successfully replaced a WS-12-DC with a WS-12-250-DC on a Meanwell 350W 48V power supply cranked up to 53V.
