Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
Good morning. I'm having an issue where I download a config from Netonix Manager and try to restore to a same model, same firmware revision switch. The switch appears to take the config but just reboots and comes right back up on the default config. What might I be doing wrong?

Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
Just tried it myself from a config backedup via the manager and it worked.
You may want to try it again, perhaps the data was corrupted as it was being submitted to the switch so it defaulted instead.
If it still doesn't work couple of questions for you that might help us figure out what's wrong.
What was the reason for applying the backup config?
Is there anything in the logs after the switch came back up?
Did any error's or other information output popup when you connected back to the switch after it came back up?

Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
Tried it again... same results. I'm doing this because one of my engineers told me the restore function wasn't working some time ago and I'm just now investigating the issue. After the restore, the switch comes up with very few log entries. STP messages, temp sensor version 3, Detected warm boot. I'm running 1.5.5 fw. My process to do this has been to download the config from Netonix Manager. On my switch, choose Utilities, Restore and select the config file I had downloaded. Message pops up stating that the Device address changed and the interface will load in 40 seconds. I have steady pings running to the default 192.168.1.20 address and one to the new IP that it should come up on. It never takes the new IP. Reverts right back to the default config. I've tried with several different config files. We have a couple hundred switches backing up to our Netonix Manager. All restores give the same results.

Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
OK, let's try to isolate how this might be happening.
With the defaulted switch, make a simple change then download the backup (using the switches web UI) and also download the backup via the Netonix Manager.
Then default the switch again, and try to restore it with both config's. I want try and see if this is potentially being caused by the switch or the manager.

Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
OK. Thank you. Restoring using the switch UI was successful. Restoring from the Netonix Manager was not successful. I even installed a fresh install of the manager on a new PC. Same results. I've uploaded the two configs. Renamed the .ncfg to .txt.

Thank you for sharing your result's. Which version of the manager are you running? Looks like I will have to add this to the list of things to work on for it, just want to make sure we're both up to date.

Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
Thank you. I'm using Netonix Manager v1.0.17. I think that is the latest. This may have broken in an earlier release though.
Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
I'm having the same issue, and unable to restore configs downloaded from Netonix Manager to same model switch with same FW version through the web UI. This is really frustrating !
Also netonix manager often shows devices stuck offline after a temporary network interruption even if the link is working again

Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
Work on the manager will be continued shortly. For now for the interruption's you should be able to restore it by unchecking the "monitor" option for the afflicted device, save, and then re-check it and save it will come back.
Re: Restoring from Netonix Manager Configs
please define "shortly".. there has been a lot of very unfortunate and repeated delays since Chris got into renovating his house.. is he done yet?
btw it seems there is 202 bytes of "junk" at the beginning of the backup files downloaded from the manager.. perhaps removing this with "tail +202c < manager.ncfg > normal.ncfg" and restoring normal.ncfg could be a fix ?
