On the STP tab, You have three options for protocols.
STP, RSTP, and MSTP,
STP and RSTP in essence are the same of course except that RSTP converges on the network faster. However, STP and RSTP are both unaware of VLANs.
MSTP allows you to use STP on separate VLANs.
If you choose to use MSTP keep in mind that you will need to configure it on your other devices as well if they use more than one VLAN. It can cause problems if a device using MSTP with various VLANs is talking to other devices using RSTP within several VLANs.
