The Ubiquiti EP-54V-72W looks interesting as a convenient power supply/battery backup for the WS-6-MINI. However it seems to supply 54V on only two pairs rather than four and the Netonix Mini product page says not to do this (in red font).
So in order to retrofit would I need to chop the RJ45 plugs off the ends of existing cables and connect them at one end to the EdgePower with a 3-pin connector and put a barrel connector on the other end to connect to the Mini? I'm thinking to twist 2 x 2 pairs together to maximise current carrying capability. I'm also thinking is this really necessary and how upset would a Mini be to find 54V on only two pairs rather than four?

Re: Will the EdgePower 54V work with the Mini
it depends on the load the mini will be driving.....if it is only going to be less than 25 watts, you could get away with just 2 pair for power, but you have to be careful on
your power totals...also remember that the mini will use about 6 watts itself....and the more load you have, the more voltage loss over the length of cable you will have.
I still don't recommend only two pair for power, but it is up to the user & their use case to decide.....I just don't want to be Mr "Told Ya So" later....

Thanks Dave, excellent advice, much appreciated. I'll do some calculations/tests and take it from there.

Re: Will the EdgePower 54V work with the Mini
To follow-up, I've discovered that the Tycon POE-INJ-1000-WT is a good solution to the problem of how to convert 48V to 48VH to power the Netonix Mini on all four pairs from an EdgePower 54V 72W.
