Ping watchdog getting triggered on POE off port as well

Sun Aug 04, 2019 5:58 am

I noticed one strange problem after upgrading to 1.5.3 stable. I suddenly started getting Ping Watchdog Triggered email from many netonix and upon checking closely. All These PORT don't have PoE enabled. But they do have ping watchdog enabled with 10s bounce settings.

Ideally, I don't think it make sense to trigger ping watchdog on port which don't have PoE enabled

Please suggest.

That's a strange one. If it's still happening, try backing up the config, resetting to factory default and re-uploading the config to one of them that it is occurring on.

Well, this happened on all Netonix I upgraded so far, all PoE off Netonix ports with ping watchdog enabled, triggered notifications based on timeouts.
I would have attempted what you have suggested if there was one odd case but doing it for 20-25 Netonix switches don't make sense.

For now I have disabled the ping watchdog on all those ports, Primaroly I just thought of informing you about such an issue. maybe you can cater for it in next release.

Thanks,

Thank you for the information. I will test it and look for a possible bug. If I find one I will add in a patch for the next release.
