Worried about cold weather? Relax!

It got down to -30 degrees f. in St. Paul last night. Our switch at this location is installed in a 4' X 4' X 5' thin wall steel enclosure, no internal thermal mass, no insulation and no other heat producing equipment. The measured ambient air inside the enclosure was -30 degrees f.. This is a test location for us and was purposely chosen for it's extreme cold climate. The Netonix WS-8-150-DC is doing fine. We have 50+ Netonix switches in our networks spread across North America from Washington state to Mexico to San Juan, Puerto Rico and have never had a failure in over 18 months of service.

We're seeing port flapping on ethernet ports on a WS-24-400A. The switch stays running but the ethernet ports are flapping together.

We have not seen port flapping on the WS-8-150-DC switch. We are watching this test site very closely and temps are predicted to drop again tonight. I'll post an update if we see any issues.
