rbbjolson wrote:@sirhc: I think your reasoning for not providing documentation is weak. Netonix should provide a comprehensive feature guide like every other manufacturer of quality networking equipment does. The reason "you should know how to do this and it's obvious" is utterly preposterous. Of course we know how to do this stuff, or we WOULDN'T BE BUYING THE SWITCH. What we need is a guide to navigate Netonix's particular representation of standard features. Sometimes it doesn't always make sense how things are grouped together or what the particular short-hand meanings are.

A USER FORUM DOES NOT COUNT AS DOCUMENTATION. I just spent 3 hours of MY VALUABLE TIME searching YOUR FORUMS trying to figure out why I can't configure VLAN's on a LAG interface. According to various posts, when a LAG is configured, it's interface index should show up in the VLAN table; but it's not for me. I'll bet there's a post somewhere that says "Oh, yeah. That's not supported on your model." Well, then, according to your logic, it "should be obvious".

These switches are great product. But I won't buy them ever again until I see Nettonix get their shit together and MAKE SOME DOCS.

No, nothing should show up on the VLAN TAB when you define a LAG?

Read what I said in your other post on this: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3362&start=70#p23019

So below I defined a Static LAG, basically the same as LACP as far as VLANs are concerned:

Below is how I handled it on the VLAN TAB, pretty straight forward?

Support is handled on the Forums not in Emails and PMs.

Maybe create a Wiki instead of a document-style manual?

You've answered multiple questions multiple times. So, the next time someone asks a question just take the answer posts and paste them into a Wiki entry and provide a link to it. It builds over time and brings it all into one place. Future re-asks can just refer to the Wiki.

...add an index, add in a few articles describing features (e.g. hand-holding), and so-on.
You could probably get some crowd-source help creating content from some of us in the Netonix fan club :hurray:

'course a Wiki doesn't set itself up... :working:
Today is an average day: Worse than yesterday, but better than tomorrow.
