DC Versions of WISP Switch

I know I'd likely by the drop in PS for now until the full DC version is out. I'd rather have a DC to DC converter as apposed to using an inverter, It's so much more efficient. In my labs focused on power usage running the AC version using an inverter costs me 40watts extra.

This suggestion might be more grief then it's worth, but you might consider on the DC version a power supply that you can adjust the output voltage. Have the switch board control the voltage the PS is outputting. This would allow you to have the PS output at 24v unless there is a port active at 48v, thus improving efficiency significantly on sites not utilizing 48v. Or for that matter separate PS's to avoid having the 24v load being upped to 48v then dropped back down to 24v.

On our DC sites I spend a lot of time optimizing efficiency. I go so far to use variable PS's and adjust voltage down as far as I can get without creating issues with the radios.

LRL - which inverter have you been able to get to power which switch? I am having a bear of a time getting these things to not trip the overload on my inverters.

I have told you to buy Tripp-Lite Inverters many times, use a real inverter!

Meanwell and Samlex are more than just automobile inverters :). The real issue is I have no idea on the actual inrush.

I've used a few different inverters. Mostly just 300Watt ones though. I'm only powering a ws-12-250A though. I do see the inrush you're referring to. It makes the inverter squawk but doesn't trip it. In the end if I go the inverter route I think I'll deploy with a pure sine wave inverter.

On the 250's I see a peak of 320-330watts. One interesting thing is the switch spikes taking 200-250 every 20-30 minutes. My test load is 80w plus the ac ps overhead taking me to 105w

Modified sine wave seems to work fine, pure sine wave only saves me 8watts.
