Netonix Powers Up doesn't Boot

Sat Dec 03, 2016 7:56 am

Morning,

We have been using netonix for a good while now and am pleased with the units generally but recently has an issue with a brand new unit, would appear that one of the Ports had a damaged cable which caused the unit to reboot and it's never come back since....

Can I TFTP the fireare and completely default the unit, pressing the reset button does nothing but can't be sure I'm doing the right sequence normally 10 seconds

Any one any ideas on how to fix this problem, basically boots but fan runs heavy continuously and bever slows as it would normally do on boot completion

Alan

Well hook up a console cable and see what it is doing.

MUST be a NULL serial cable.

Verify the cable is working right on a known good unit.

Chris,

I had the same issue.

Port 3 was not powering a device even though it showed 24v power. My tech turned off power on the port, but when she turned it back on, the switch attempted to reboot, but failed to come back up.

This switch is used in my office, so I attempted to reboot by turning off power, but it did not come up.

I then attempted a reset using the factory default button, but no lights ever flashed. I then tried one last attempt to default during boot, but got no response; no lights came on and the fan continued to blast at full power.

I hooked up to the console port (after testing the console cable on a working switch), powered off the switch, then powered it back on; the console showed absolutely nothing after powering up the switch.

My switch is a WS-8-150-AC on firmware 1.4.6.

Sounds like you need to RMA it then?

That's what I was thinking. I was just checking the forums today to see if I missed anything simple before starting the RMA process.
