Re: RSTP bug
I haven't been able to duplicate this in the lab. Every time I plug the 5 port back into the office switch Port 12 goes back to the Discarding state and everything continues to work fine.
On the WISP Switch configuration, under "Storm Control" could you change "Broadcast" to 1K (or even lower) and see if that helps?

Re: RSTP bug
And just to confirm I will also have Rory lab it Friday to make sure but I know I was present during a lot of the RSTP testing as they set it up in my WISP office when Eric was down here working for a month before release. I knew it was a sad day when I would go to my WISP office and I would ask were someone was and they would say they are up in Eric's office I would be like no that is MY office

Re: RSTP bug
Thanks for the video, maybe Eric will lab again today being Canadian but if not Rory and I will tomorrow as no one is working at my WISP or Netonix here today in the states with Thanksgiving.
I am indeed STILL waiting for my turkey
Provided we resolve this issue one way or the other what is your impression of the switch?

Re: RSTP bug
I'm pretty happy with it overall!
No worries about today. The wifey skipped the turkey this year, so we had ham instead and now she's off shopping. I opted out of that awful event.
I'll give it another try with a different set of switches in the my home lab. In the office I was using that piece of S*** trendnet and the office switch is a mikrotik CRS.

Re: RSTP bug
Yea let me know your results of your next test and we will post up our results tomorrow.
I also asked Eric to redo his testing but I guess he is out on a date or something.
Too bad on the ham verses turkey, not that ham is not good, we have ham on Christmas as Easter.

Re: RSTP bug
I preformed the same test. This time it wasn't until the second flop before the switch went wonky. Afterwords I pulled one of the two links to the switch and the link light stayed on and continued flashing as if it still possessed a link.
Let me know if you need something more from me or it you guys would like me to test.

Re: RSTP bug
I have verified this issue. While my switch does not stay in an errored state (it reboots after about 10 seconds of experiencing a loop), it reboots itself and works ok after that.
Obviously that is not by design. I have some information I need to pass on to Eric before I can venture a guess as to the root cause of this problem. Due to the nature of how RSTP is controlled, I may need to leave that assessment to him. But this good news is that we have verified the issue and are working on a fix.
Thank you for your trouble report. I will check back in as soon as I have more information.

Re: RSTP bug
I just wanted to post a quick update. From what I've been able to glean, the switch is not properly handling the BPDU packets. The BPDU's are actually what is flooding the switch. I have been able to verify with a reasonable amount of assurance that this issue is not tied to the hardware, but most likely a software or configuration issue on our side.
I am going over this with Eric, and as soon as I have more info I will post it up.
Apologies for the bug, and thanks for your patience.
