I just purchased these same items with Cisco compatibility, using on a WS-12-250 & WS-10-250, both with the same behavior. Works for a few moments and then stops working and can't get working again. After rebooting the switch and reseating the module it sometimes works for a brief moment, but back down again. I have tried this with three different modules of same model.

Suggestions, issues?

What switch firmware version are you running?
Did you try changing the Speed/Duplex on the port between 1G and Auto and also try changing the setting on the other device?

Hello everyone,
We just recently purchased our first few Netonix wisp-switch ws-12-250-dc switches. We cannot get the switches to talk to each other using the sfp ports. We purchased our sfps from fiberstore model sfp-ge-bx. We tested the fiber links. And even tested the optics on our brocade switch and the optics appear fine in it. Has anyone ever used these optics before? Or can think of any reason these are not linking? When they are both transmitting... Each is around -8db at the receiving end of the fiber.

Try changing port from Auto to 1G in the ports tab...

I read a few other trends and I already tried that and it is currently set to 1G. Still do not see any traffic either direction.

Maybe order some of the known to work SFP modules that people have reported to work fine?

I personally have never found an SFP module that did not work in our switches? I have found some DOM modules that cause problems with the I2C bus but they worked other than they interfered with telemetry readings on the switch. A bad SFP module can cause this as well as I have had modules go bad that did this but when I replaced with same model all was well again.

I have even had customers send me SFP modules they claimed would not work and I had no problems with them and used Team view to show them they are working and when I sent then back suddenly they would work for them?

By the way fiberstore model sfp-ge-bx is not a complete model number?

Your welcome to send them to me to test and I would send back.

Also did you test them both in another device to insure one is not bad?

You need to make sure both switches have the same Speed/Duplex set.

Another words one side cannot be 1G and the other Auto.

I would set both side to 1G Save/Apply and then plug in the SFP modules and cable and if that does not work remove the modules and change to Auto and Save/Apply then insert the modules and cable.

Sometimes you have to re-seat the module after changing speed/duplex, all depends on the module.

Also as mentioned some SFP modules interfere with I2C communications which you can see on the Device/Status page when the module is inserted as voltages and temperatures will not be reported correctly but will return to normal when you remove the module.

I have never seen a network device that worked will ALL SFP manufacturers, not even Cisco....especially Cisco I should say.

Chris here is the link to the sfps we purchased, they are the top two listed.

When i go to the device/status all voltage and levels look normal to me.

We did test them in our Brocade switch and the optics seemed to work.
