I need a small tower switch basically just for 3 Ubiquiti devices one of which is AirFiber-x and was thinking of the mini 6 port. I want to make sure these don't have flow control issues or basically any issues like ubnt has. I hear you can power these from the air-fiber power supply and if so, what do you do just power the AF through the switch and if that's the case can the AF power supply handle 2 more poe devices plugged into switch or is it best to go with its own power supply.

Re: Thinking of Netonix
No we do not have the same problems as ToughSwitches but you can read that for yourself on this forum and UBNT forums just search for Netonix on UBNT forums and start reading.
Yes you can power it with an AF24 POE brick and "maybe" an AF24 with another radio and their small router, it will be tight power budget.
An AF24 POE brick will power an AFX radios and a couple airMAX radios and the small router.
Do you need an AF24 or AF5 at this "little" pop?
But unless you are putting the WS-6-MINI in a Tycon box and you need to power and AF24 or AF5 and another radio and a router then go with the WS-10-250-AC.
People power the switch and a several airMAX radios and a little router with the AF24 POE brick.

Re: Thinking of Netonix
Ok I will have just the AF5 and another AC dish and 2 other non power devices so I should be all set. I said 3 just in-case I add something. You mentioned AF24 brick but mine will be a AF5X brick I assume same thing. The other thing that will come into play here is distance to radio and voltage drop so If Im at 200 feet then it might be questionable? Also are there any other limitations to the mini switch as far as VLAN's and such? Edit: I just realized its powering the switch also so switch, AC dish, AF5X man that's a-lot for that original AF5X brick? You mentioned small router I assume that's if I add one to the mix which I don't need at this location.

Re: Thinking of Netonix
AF5 and AF24 use the same power brick I think which is 50V 60 watts
AF will consume 48-52 watts
Switch will 4 watts
This does not leave much left to power any other radios especially considering cable loss. Not enough for another radio.
If you powered the WS-6-MINI with one of our switches you would have head room as we offer 50V @ 1.5A or 75W watts constant draw at 55C but if the switch is is a cooler environment you get about 2A or 100 watts with 48VH port

Re: Thinking of Netonix
I worded it poorly. I would not assume they are the same. I cannot be sure unless I held one in my hand. The early AF5X units were 24V. They and the newest models don't draw the same wattage as the AF24 so the PoE bricks might be different.

As far as I know the AF5 and AF25 both use the same 50V-52V 1.2A POE brick????
Now the AFX radios are a different story.

Re: Thinking of Netonix
A little confusing reading this so can I at least power the mini switch and the AF-5X so I don't have to buy a separate power supply for the switch? That will be fine I can use bricks for any other radios. Also an earlier question doe the mini have same functions and programming as the bigger units or is it limited because of its size/price?
EDIT: just went and looked at AF-5X POE and its 1 amp 24 volt if that helps with anything
