enabling QinQ
how to enable/config QinQ? I'm not sure if I'm having a problem with mis-configuring the switch, or the VM environment... you guys are a little lite on documentation..

Re: enabling QinQ
Do a search of QinQ and you find posts like this: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1033&p=7749&hilit=QinQ#p7749
One of the most common mistakes when using QinQ is not setting your MTU large enough.

Re: enabling QinQ
Chris, can you just clarify, I need to make a change online and don't want to have an issue
I have a router that is in a 'router on a stick' setup in port1 of the netonix.
Port 1 is Router (RB850Gx2)
Port 7 is Backhaul (AF5X)
VLAN27
Port 1 VLAN 1 'U'
Port 1 VLAN27 'T'
Port 7 VLAN27 'U'
What do I need to change here? I though that changing Port1 VLAN27 to 'Q' would be it, but I'm not allowed to do that on 1.3.9 firmware... I can only change Port1Vlan1 from U -> Q, or Port7VLAN27 from U -> Q

Re: enabling QinQ
As you know you can only have 1 "U" per port.
In the current form you can only have 1 "U" or "Q" per port.
I am not sure we could allow a "Q" and "U" to assigned on the same port?
I have pinged Eric to weigh in here.

Re: enabling QinQ
I don't need that. I just need to pass QinQ across VLAN27, which is configured as 'U' on port 7. That seems to be the issue.
If I run a separate VLAN on a link, with both 'T' then I can run QinQ across that just fine. I have a couple places that I can't do that right now though. Mid-transition here so I was looking to QinQ on 1 'T' and 1 'U' port to solve it. I thought that 'Q' was roughly the same a 'U' but didn't strip the QinQ vlans.

Re: enabling QinQ
Q will strip the outer VLAN Tag OFF
Meaning if a port has a Q on it and a packet is exiting that Q port and the Packet has VLAN Tag 1 inside VLAN Tag 2 the the packet will exit with only VLAN Tag 1 as ID was stripped.
If it is a packet with just VLAN ID 2 and no inner VLAN Tag then the packet will leave the port as an Untaged packet as the only single VLAN Tag was removed exposing an Untaged packet.
A packet entering a Q port will have an outer VLAN Tag installed encapsulating an already VLAN packet inside another VLAN ID
T will pass normal VLAN and QinQ VLANs without stripping the outer VLAN Tag off provided your MTU is large enough for double Tagged QinQ packets.
What you said you wanted to do was change Port 1 VLAN27 from T to Q but you can not as Port 1 VLAN1 is a U and the UI will NOT allow this.
As I said you can NOT have a U and a Q on the same port, it is either one or the other.
Also as I said I am not sure if we can change this ability so I pinged Eric to respond if we can even allow a Q and U to exist on the same port.
