Add solar charge controller to the mini
Add solar charge controller to the mini
For small sites, it will be great to have something similar to Tycon Systems TP-SCPOE-2448 with the mini switch funtions in one box. We use the Tycon on many sites, but they lack ports and variable voltage and monitoring, which the mini will be great for.

Re: Add solar charge controller to the mini
Charging controllers are something we want to build in the future but nothing at this time.
2018 will be the first year Netonix is in the black so hopefully sales maintain current or better levels and all that money that was being spend paying back seed money and back pay will used to develop new equipment.

Re: Add solar charge controller to the mini
That tycon has some weird quirks that make it difficult to find a use-case for it.
1) Max 200 watt solar panel input which isnt enough to run even a 30 watt load purely off solar
2) Only 48v POE output
3) No mention of MPPT which means you loose 30-35% of your solar power when using a 200 watt panel.
Interesting though that it does accept POE input as a charging source - I think its better suited as an inline POE UPS device.
What I would prefer is simply a netonix mini that accepts 12-36V input and puts out 24V (doesnt need 48V output)
That way we can continue to use our standard solar controller modules and it would be suitable for back-to-back radio mini repeater or private customer sites.

Yeah thats what we use but i'd rather have another two copper ports rather than SFP - even if they were non-poe as we use a port without poe enabled for a mikrotik router, and a web camera which runs off 5v so it also has poe disabled.
