IPv6

Hello,
We are getting requests from some clients to use IPv6.
We have a Netonix switch at the head of our network on which IPv6 is not enabled on the Device Configuraton.
I expect this is required only for assigning an ipv6 address to the switch and that IPv6 packets will be forwarded even thought the IPv6 is not enabled on the switch. Is my understanding correct?
