I've got two of these switches mounted on the side of a building. Are vents even going to help?? Bare in mind, these have both cooled down about 8C since I got around to taking screenshots. What happens when they get to 125C ?? I'm afraid to light up the other two ports on these units...currently each are only using 3 POE out
I can't imagine I'm the only one who has seen this lol

One suggestion I would have is get some light-colored shade cloth from a hardware store and use it with aluminum screen framing just like you would use window screen fabric. From your pic, mount the frame between the side of the ladder and the building to help keep direct sun off the boxes.

That might not help enough. I have a fear that metal building is acting like a heat-sink in the sun and radiates it back to the box. Sometimes even fan-ventilated boxes have a tough time in direct sunlight.

I would take a length of thin-wall PVC sewer pipe and slice it the full length so that you can slip it over the two boxes and pole mounting. Run it down as low to the ground that will still let you slide it down to get access. The pipe will act like a chimney and draw up cooler air from low to the ground.

Both good ideas, will try.

Out of curiosity (and this might sound like a dumb question) ... what happens when the temperature starts getting into the 120C range or above 100C for that matter? What kind of problems to people see. Packet Loss? Haven't seen any errors and no reboots or ports fail yet.
