Hello Forum,
I'm trying to troubleshoot a difference between two switches. Both are WS-12-250-dc, very similar load, same power supply, same ambient room temperature. One has a board temp of 45C and fan speed of ~4500RPM, the other has a board temp of ~40C and fan is off. These are low powere DC solar sites so I want to be sure that the fan on the one is running for good reason and there isn't something possibly wrong that's making the board temp higher.

It's not possible to tell if one is running hotter than the other one from the graphs presented.
You might be able to get an idea of what to expect if you take a look at the total power usage of each switch over an extended period of time.
It also might help to look at the DC input voltage where both of them are set to 24 hour and take a look to see if one is on average higher than the other. Or possibly, if one switch is in an area where air flow and space are more accessible, then it will more than likely run cooler.

But, in general, the fan logic is setup so that it won't turn on until it hit's at least 45C, and then it turns off again at 35C. That being said, everything is working the way it should be and the switch at Rd130 is operating at the lowest possible fan speed's and the Roswell switch isn't even hot enough to turn on yet. But it is more than likely steadily increasing in temp and will probably turn on at some point. That's not really anything out of the ordinary.

Do you have any other particular reason to be concerned?
