Network Design VLANs Routers and such...

Fri Jun 14, 2019 10:45 am

So I'd like to setup a ring between three locations. The Main Office will have Two AF24's that go straight out to the towers and an AF5 between the two towers. If one of the AF24 Links Goes down, I want to use the Connections between the towers to continue the loop. I ordered New Netonix Switches to put at all locations. Do you Route the AF ring, or put the Ring on one VLAN?

Are you referring to ERPS?

I would put a router at each tower site, use OSPF, and let it do it's thing. Do this stuff at Layer3. Having seen it done both ways, you're in a world of hurt if you try to do this all at Layer 2 & Spanning tree.

Layer 2 is fine at small scale.
