WS-8-150-DC - Why 6 copper ports?

So, near as I can tell, every single switch has the same number of copper ports as in the "item name". i.e. the mini-6 has 6 copper ports, the WS-12-DC has 12.. Even the WS-8-AC has 8..
But.. The WS-8-DC has only 6.. What gives?

The naming scheme has been debited and moving forward we now label models based on total # ports copper + SFP
The WS-8-150-DC was designed for sites smaller than calls for the need of a WS-12-250-DC.
The (2) SFP ports are assumed to be used for fiber feeds and or connection to a site router. The power supply is only rated at 150 watts so more than 8 copper ports would be too much for the power supply.
If you assume 1 high powered backhaul link like AF5/24 thats 50 watts + (6) ports of average 10 watts each (again average draw) thats 60 watts and the switch itself using upto 10+/- watts that 50+60+10=120 watts leaving 30 watts in reserve.
If you need more copper then you need the WS-12-250-DC.
In reality what does the name matter, we could have named our switches based on things totally detached from ports such as Model: Raspberry, what really matters is the spec sheet which people should refer to before making a purchase decision.

yes / no. You're right that it could have been arbitrary.. But it wasn't... It is clear that they were named for the total copper ports.. The WS-8 should have been the WS-6-150-DC. It's quite clear if you look at the WS-24-AC/DC that actually have 26 total ports.. And every model of the 12 has 14 total ports...
So.. I dunno why the super long explanation on the power supply that had nothing to do with anything... As I said, the ONLY switch that has a number different than total copper ports is the 8-DC..

TOTALLY NOT TRUE.
Here is the progression of our models and names
WS-12-250A - 12 copper - 2 SFP
WS-12-250B - 12 copper - 2 SFP
WS-24-400A - 24 copper - 2 SFP
WS-24-400B - 24 copper - 2 SFP
WS-8-250-AC - 8 copper
WS-8-250-DC - 8 copper
WS-12-250-AC - 12 copper - 2 SFP
WS-12-250-DC - 12 copper - 2 SFP
WS-12-DC - 12 copper - 2 SFP
WS-12-400-AC - 12 copper - 2 SFP
This is where we made the name change All switches prior were named based on copper ports, there were reasons we did this internally which are not important.
WS-8-150-DC - 6 copper 2 SFP
WS-8-150-AC - 8 copper
WS-26-400-AC - 24 copper 2 SFP
WS-26-500-DC - 24 copper 2 SFP
WS-26-400-IDC - 24 copper 2 SFP
All WS2 and WS3 products not yet available hold this same naming scheme, TOTAL PORTS.
So you do not like our naming scheme, I get that, sorry, but I fail to see how this is a position worth debating?
