How is Watts per port calculated?

Tue Mar 03, 2015 6:44 pm

Hacking a WS-8-250-AC for DC use on a 18-24VDC power supply on either the 24V or 48V POE bus.

I imagine for the "Watts" value on the per port status page, the current is being measured per port and that is multiplied by the "voltage".

My question is whether that "voltage" in the power calculation is

1) Simply the fixed integer port settings of either 24V or 48V?

2) The actual measured bus voltage as also appears on the device status page under "Power"?

From my tests, I think it is the logical answer, #2. But I just needed to confirm.

Thanks Dave! I figured that had to be the case, otherwise the "Watts" numbers would have been really skewed when comparing between 20V actual on the 24V bus and 20V actual on the 48V bus.
