Mimosa B5

Received a pair of B5 integrated units yesterday and the first thing I wanted to know was if the WISP Switch would power them... ... well, it wont.
The power supply that comes with the B5's are 56v .9 amp (50.4 watts) but the specs on the mimosa website (http://mimosa.co/home/Products/Backhaul ... tions.html) say each unit only draws 20 watts max. They also mention they are 802.3at and passive poe complaint at 48-56 volts. However my units would not power up on a 48VH port..
I did swap patch cables but I didn't try a different port just to be sure something wasn't already wrong. The unit works fine on the supplied power supplies. Next time I am at the office I will test another port.. but so far I'm disappointed.

Post up the pin out
if it is 802.3at then 48VH port should work fine if pin outs are the same which it should be (reference our PDF)

I'm pretty sure that I checked and it was the same. now I can't find the pinout. I'll keep looking.

If the WS support 802.3at it should work.. I can't find anything on the mimosa website that shows the actual pins used. but your diagram looks like like any other standard 802.3at pin out. hmm..

One thing you can do is make a jumper with bare wires on one end and use a Volt Ohm Meter to test the pin out of the MIMOSA power brick.

Be careful not to short any wires as it could damage the brick and or the switch if you do also test the switch.

Dumb question but you are using one of the following ports?

48VH configured in UI using one of the following WISP Switch ports:
WS-12-250A or WS-24-400A ports 1, 2, 3 or 4

WS-12-250B or WS-24-400B ports 1 or 2

Yep. I was using port 2 on a WS-24-400A. It has a red blinking LED showing the 48VH is active.
I'll head up the the data center later today and try another port and see about doing some additional testing.

Maybe it has pin out power info on the back of the adapter it came with...

I'll check later. Good idea.

Lee Peterson from Mimosa here. Would be interested in understanding why the B5 is having a problem the WISP switch. The radio will work with any 802.3at 48v POE. The additional voltage (56v) in our POE power supply is to account for voltage drops on long cable runs.

Hi Lee. Me too!
I'm going to do some testing this afternoon and will report my findings.
Having a brand new ws 24 I've never had anything plugged in to port 2. So while I hope the port isn't bad... Something isn't lining up.
