How to enable NTP for PST

Hello Forum,
During the time change this weekend, my netonix switch jumped ahead to MT time (so instead of 15:18PST it's 17:18 for example). I have it set to use utcnist.colorado.edu and set the zone to America/Los Angeles PST8PDT.

I'm fine disabling the NTP if there is a way to manually set the time too, if there isn't an NST workaround for this.

Thanks again,
AK

The switch does not have an internal clock, you need to use a time server public or private and select the desired time zone you want.

Are you sure your using the correct zone?

Okay, I know the switch doesn't have an internal clock, but I can't find the zone that keeps the switch in GMT -0800. Is there one?

Thanks again,
Adam

I'm not following what the perceived issue is. Is not PDT the same as MST? If the TZ is set to PST8PDT then it should have jump ahead one hour this past weekend. I think that the only region in mainland US that does not change to DST is Arizona that is on MST.

Okay right. This is a scientific deployment of networked sensors that stay on PST or GMT -0800. I use the power settings on the netonix to turn ports on and off depending on when I expect the sensors to report with a ping. I'm just trying to keep the switch in a constant time zone, say GMT -0800 and I don't see that option in the list of timezones within the NTP dialogue.

Would it be too confusing to use Arizona time since they don't change to DST?

No, AZ would be fine, but I don't see that option listed in the Zone drop down.

"America / Phoenix (MST7)" is what we're using and we're in Arizona... and our switches have the correct time.

Okay, excellent - my brain was on autopilot. I'll give this a go. Thanks!
