Is there a way to cold reboot a switch from the command line. We have one port that was running at 1gig and now will not connect 1gig we have done a warm reboot of both devices. The switch was replaced 3 weeks ago with a brand new unit running current release firmware 1.4.5rc8. Any ideas out there!!
Thx
Jeff

No, there is no way to do a COLD Reboot same as power cycle from any embedded device I know of.
A warm reboot or reload is all that you can do.
In our switch a warm reload is reload cold which is a misnomer and should say reload warm.

As far as the connection not achieving 1G connection you should test the switch port.
Ways to test a port in the switch:
1) Run cable diagnostics on the port with no cable plugged in and you should always get OPEN on all 4 pairs. Note that this is a crude test but will tell you if the Ethernet Transformer is damaged.
2) Turn POE OFF on that port and see if your laptop gets a 1G connection
If the port checks out OK then you are looking at a cable, end, or radio issue.
The current firmware is v1.4.6 by the way.
If the previous switch was damaged at this location and you have not done any improvements to your grounding it may have also been damaged?
