How Loop Protection works?

Since this mostly vendos specific, how Loop Protection works on the Netonix Switches?

It works similar to spanning tree except it responds to seeing the discovery packet return on the same port it went out on.

Actually not quite right. It sends out frames with unique identifiers, if it receives one of those frames on any port that is part of the same VLAN that indicates a loop.

thanks, and whats he course of action? shut down the port when it saw the issue?

how you get rectification form the issue? the netonix monitors the looped port for x amount of minutes ?

Loop Protection will disable the port (Ethernet communications) for 90 seconds then enables it again.
If it sees the packet again it disables it again for 90 seconds and so on
