Mimosa POE

Hi All,

I realized something today that I found a bit odd. My apologies if this has already been covered here, Search didn't yield any direct answers.

The Mimosa POE packaged with the device claims Pins 3/6 & 4/5 (+56v) and Pins 1/2 & 7/8 Ground.

The Netonix claims 1/2 & 4/5 (+48v) and Pins 3/6 & 7/8 Ground.

Now, I've got a ton of Netonix powered Mimosa's, Even a few that I accidentally set to 48vh (Ran without issue). I also understand the Mimosa will accept a range of voltage, Which is why 48v works, When they recommend 56v.

What I don't get is why it works with the Pos/Neg pins being different? Is this due to some kind of reverse polarity protection built into the mimosa, Or are my pin stats wrong?

Yes this has been covered many times, here is one: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=819&p=7083&hilit=rectifier#p7083

Both the MIMOSA radios and the Netonix WS-6-MINI use bridge rectifier circuits on their POE IN so they correct the polarity.

This is why you can power a MIMOSA with their POE brick or if you wanted an AF24 POE brick or a WISP Switch.

The fact that the WS-6-MINI also uses a Bridge Rectifier Circuit on "Port 1" for its "POE IN" you can also power it will a MIMOSA POE Brick or an AF24 POE brick or 48VH from another WISP Switch.
