Expected Cpu load ws-8-150Dc running 35 +/- 5% max 45mbs

Hi Guys,
Just got a new 8-150dc and swapped out my ToughSwitch 5 to run my Af5x solar repeater. I just have a couple of questions.
I have updated the firmware to 1.4.3rc7
Cpu is running around 30% to 38% all the time, when passing my 45mb max traffic. or just idling at 200kbps
no vlans or other fancy setup
Is this normal ?
Also accuracy of voltage monitoring, I think my switch is reading .2volts different than my meter and tycon power monitor whats the standard +/- at 25v
Cheers
Jeremy

The CPU has nothing to do with switch capacity or load.
This is a switch core not a software switch which means the core itself handles the packet forwarding and has many dedicated CPUs to handle that load. The switch core is capable of line rate switching.
The CPU which is a small MIPS 24K 416 MHz you are looking at is only there to run the UI, CLI. Stats collection. and it also runs some daemons to direct higher switch core functions like RSTP, LACP, and such.
Yes the CPU load you are reporting is accurate as to what it should be.
The voltage reading as a +/- accuracy as each switch would have to be calibrated to make it more accurate as every electronic component made has a +/- couple percentage accuracy.
EXAMPLE: This is why FCC regulation allow +/- 3 dB from one radio to another and in dB every 3 dB is basically 100% difference so you can see how wide of birth the FCC gives on EIRP.

Sirhc,
Thankyou for your detailed reply.
Can I request a calibration (software) offset in a future firmware to allow for voltage calibration much like the Tycon power monitor.
This only applies a user adjusted correction.
So anyone with a digital meter can correct there readings.

I will bring this back up in our next meeting.
Maybe we can get it into v1.4.4
