Power consumption of DC switch

The netonix DC POE switches are very nice, the only problem I have seen is a somewhat high self power consumption. Am I the only person having this issue?.
Can someone tell me how to lower self power consumption?
Thanks

they will use about 4-6 watts themselves...which is not really a lot of power considering what they do.

3-6 watts is pretty low.
6 watts if you're using all the ports and the fan is running at full.
This is an Enterprise/Entry Level Carrier switch core which will consume more power than say a Broadcom BCM-53118 or BCM-53115 which is used in the TR8 & TS5 as it is defined by Broadcom as a switch core designed for a SOHO application. But between the BCM-53118 paired up with the AR7240 SOC chip that runs it's UI combined uses close to 4-5 watts without a fan.
So in reality our switch core will use less power at idle but will draw more power when under load passing all those packets you need passed "fast"
I know everyone wants a car that performs like a 4x4 crew cab but sips gas like a Fiat.
