DC Versions of WISP Switch

You guys asked for DC powered versions and I started looking how to do it.

2 Versions will be available by October.

Dumb, these units will be less expensive then normal AC versions.

These will accept DC input in the back but they assume you have conditioned DC power available and will work as follows:
45-53 volt DC input snf switch will work with all POE options available in UI
If power drops below 45 volts 48V POE ports will be shut down

28-44 volt switch will work but only allow 24V POE option in UI
If the input voltage drops below 28V and the switch will not power up or shut off

Smart, these units as $20 more expensive for 12 port versions over their AC version but 24 port versions are the same price as their AC counter parts.

These models will accept a DC input range from 9-60 volt which is nice for extended power outages it can drain your 48V battery bank before shutting off.

Smart would enable one to log into the switch to see the current voltage, even if low? Thought I saw voltage monitoring capbility?

Dumb would just shut off... Is it worth managing two versions?

Currently we only monitor the switch input voltage from the DC to DC converter not what is going into the Smart DC to DC up/down converter but that is a good idea.

I will consider adding that.

Towards the end of October yes.

We had hoped to ship out the first regular AC WISP Switches today but we ran into a software snag dealing with LACP port aggregation so we might not ship them until Monday. We have been in the office until midnight the past couple days trying to figure it out, hopefully today we have success. We have them ready to go just need to flash them with latest firmware once we figure out what it is then seal the boxes...... Probably something STUPID, isn't it always something stupidly simple in the end.

I have a use for one today!

You can take our AC powered WISP switch and feed it 45 to 50 Vdc to the board connector and it will function fine.

Sadly you void the warranty by opening the chassis but it takes a single DC input just like the ToughSWITCH whereas the edgeMAX Switch requires 3 different voltage inputs (48/24/3.3).

You could feed it as low as like 28V and the 24V POE option will still work but obviously 48V POE is disabled in the UI then.

The switch will accept up to around 60Vdc input but once again it disables the 48V POE with any voltage above 53V but be careful that your 48V POE devices will accept up to the input voltage without damage.
