Re: WS 8 250 DC 24V 1A on Port 1 or 2
Some switches do offer 1.5A with 24VH but that is using all (4) pair which means it is only .75A on (2) pair (pins 4,5 + and 7,8 -) and another .75A on the other (2) pair (pin 1,2 + and 3,6 - )
DO NOT USE 24VH ON ANY OTHER DEVICE THAN AF2X, AF3X, AF5X OR A DEVICE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO ACCEPT POWER ON ALL 4 PAIR OR YOU WILL FRY THE DEVICE AND THE PORT AND THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
Note: New AFX radios support 48V and 48VH as well as 24VH see this post viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1215#p9040
24V and 48V @ .5A or .75A using 2 pair Pins 4,5 [+] and Pins 7,8 [-]
24VH and 48VH @ 1.2A or 1.5A using 4 pair Pins 1,2,4,5 [+] Pins 3,6,7,8 [-]
It achieves the higher amperage by splitting the load across all 4 pair
Now this is not to say that the switch will not try and deliver 1A especially if the switch is in a cool area but you are over driving the Ethernet Transformers and could damage them as they are not rated for that current.
However with that said some devices come with a 1A POE brick but that does not mean the device uses 1A. Most UBNT radios come with a 1A POE brick but the device only uses .5A or less which you can see as we give you the current that the device is using on the Status Tab

What are you wanting to power at 24V 1A?

It would be good to know and whether that kit has the option of powering separately via a barrel connector or terminals. One might be able to employ a 4-pair PoE picker to pick off the power to feed separately.

Re: WS 8 250 DC 24V 1A on Port 1 or 2
BTW, if you really need 24V 1A, you could always send 48V into the http://routerboard.com/RBGPOE-CON-HP and use the 24V 1A it puts out.

No, the WS-8-250-XX never supported 24VH
Nor does the WS-24-400X or the WS-12-250X
The models that support 24VH is
WS-10-250-AC - Ports 1-2
WS-12-250-DC - Ports 1-4
WS-12-400-AC - Ports 1-4
WS-6-MINI - Port 2
It all explained in the PDF and on the product descriptions for each item on our web site/store
