24 Port DC Switch

Hi All

Just wondering if a 24 port version of the DC powered switch is on the road map?

If it is then that will boot my current Cisco solution for going all DC at transmission sites and save a bucket of money and make my racks way neater by not having inline PoE converters.

Thanks

Are you wanting a DUMB DC or SMART DC model?

If you are talking about a DUMB version like the WS-12-DC then you could convert a WS-24-400A to DC by removing the power AC supply.

Or are your talking about a SMART DC version like the WS-12-250-DC?

You could always use (2) WS-12-250-DC units with optional rack mount ears.

Have you tried our WS-12-250-DC unit?

Isee you just purchased the WS-12-DC units.

You know the WS-12-DC units REQUIRE 48V conditioned input.

The WS-12-250-DC is the unit that accepts 9-60V DC input.

Hi Sirhc

Yes i am aware we are pairing our shiny new Netonix switches with the MicroPack & Chameleon solution offered by http://www.eltek.com/

Cheers

Dylan.

So to confirm the 400A switch has a AC to DC power supply? Is it internal or an external supply?

Sorry to bring up an old thread but just wanted to check in if there has been any change in possibly releasing the 24 port version with a smart DC power supply. We just installed a couple 12-250-DC and they are working great at our solar sites. I would love to get a 24 port version for another solar site of ours. Don't really want to have to chain two 12 ports together.

Yes there is an internal AC to 48V power supply in it.

Yes we are working on several new DC switches, here is 2 in progress:

There will be a 24+2 Port 250W Smart DC that can use 9-72V DC in but not isolated so it can not be used on NEGATIVE 48V sites like telecom power.

There will be a 24+2 Port 400W DC that can use like 36-72V DC that is isolated so it can be used on NEGATIVE 48V sites like telecom sites.

Both of these models are much smaller than our existing 24+2 port switches.

Thanks for the information. Both units sounds promising. In regards to the Smart DC PS, is the 250W the max we will ever see? With all my gear at this site I'm pretty sure I'd be over that 250w limit. It looks like I could use the 400W DC but I'd also have to add a dc/dc converter to power the unit also. If not no big, I may end up going with 2x 12-250-DC units after all.

No, you can power the 400 watts with 36-72V DC just not all the way down to 9V as it is made more for telcos with NEGATIVE 48V sites but you can power it with POSITIVE 36-72V DC
