What is the possibility of getting the ability to send an email or sms message in a future software version if a user defined low voltage occurs on the raw input DC side on a WS-12-250-DC?

How about I tell you that it is already there!

Make sure you have SMTP properly setup and tested on the Device/Configuration Tab and you will get a lot of SMTP alerts for any error condition.

Look on the Power Tab

Well that is great.:) Should have read the manual better.
Most of our equipment that sends the text message and goes to and address like 406######@vtext.com. No passwords required or some of the other stuff shown.
Not sure how to set that up to work with Verizon.
Looks like I need a seperate email server that I have more control over. Or is there another way to make it work with the Verizon?

No, people have it working with other mail servers like GMAIL and such.

The settings on our SMTP setup are pretty much the same as any mail client so not sure why you would need special instructions as I am sure you have setup many mail client software such as Outlook?

There is no manual per say, there is this forums where you can search for previously asked questions and there is a video guide on youtube which is on our main web page and listed here on the forums and even on UBNT forums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JvBEAD4MFM

Since we designed these switches for the WISP we made an assumption that they are at least a little tech savvy and a manual would be a waste of time since we are small and have few resources at this time?

In fact there is a piece of paper we put on top of each switch that states the first thing people should do is join this Forum and upgrade to the latest firmware and yet even that 1 piece of paper is ignored most of the time so I figured a manual would also be ignored most times so we opted to make the UI as simple as possible and a simple Google search of any function such as RSTP or LACP will yield all the info you need from pages like wikipedia.

This is what new users to Netonix Switches should do:

1) Heed the warnings on that single piece of paper laying on top of the switch when un-boxing their first switch.

2) Join the forums and upgrade the firmware to the lastest Stable version unless they find a fix in the Release notes that indicates they should use the latest RC version. Normally the latest RC version is the way to go especially for a new user IMO as it fixes bugs already found in the last FINAL version.

3) Read the announcement posts at the top of:
- WISP Switch/General Discussion
and
- WISP Switch/Hardware and Software Issues
and
- Sirhc's Corner has good posts especially on grounding

4) Play with the switch in a Lab for a couple hours mousing over everything and getting a feel for the switch and what all the dials, knobs, and buttons do.

5) Google any feature such as LACP or RSTP that they do not understand.

Sadly most times people buy the switch, throwing away the warning page to upgrade the firmware then simply install the unit without first even familiarizing themselves with the new product and then have issues.....go figure.

Now do not get me wrong, I too have done this in the past with new equipment....just saying!

Not sure I understand the question since you use it with other equipment. So long as you have SMTP setup, then the Verizon email to text gateway will do it.

For me using Rogers email to text gateway is a PITA and not free.

To cut down on the volume of texts and subsequently the cost, I used to send all of my alerts to email and then had written email rules to forward only certain content to the phone as text.
