Safe Mode
This is annoying. I was a proponent for it being added. But it needs to be an option. Just like in Ubiquiti, You can click Apply or Test.
It shouldn't be an across the board thing..
Reason I bring it up. I may change some vlan's on a remote switch and will lose connection and have to drop back out of that switch to go configure some stuff on another switch or router in front of it and unless I have it all setup a head of time and make me changes in the exact right order I'm racing the clock to gain access to it again or it reverts back. No Bueno.

Re: Safe Mode
You can change the time out of the safe time under the Device/Configuration Tab to make it longer if you like

Re: Safe Mode
I'm not sure how I was missing that. That will help. But my vote is still for there to be an option more like Ubiquiti's way of doing it. Just my .02

I will talk with eric, maybe if the user puts in 0 as the time it disables it?

Re: Safe Mode
Why can't you put a test button next to the Save/Apply button?

Personally I like the way it is better than the Test button.
For 99% of the time it always will revert back if an OH CRAP is done.
If we had a Test Button people would think ah there is no reason to Test this and hit the Apply Button anyway.

Re: Safe Mode
May some others will chime in. But I personally like to be in a little more control than that.
We use the test button on UBNT all the time when moving people between sectors on towers and what not. We also just the the apply button a lot when we make changes that we know won't be a problem.
I wasted over two hour today trying to get a site up that in 1 hour away (new site) because I kept fighting with the switch reverting back to previous settings when I KNEW what I wanted it to do I just needed way more time to get other things configured so I could get back over to it in a bit.
That said a longer timer will fix that problem. However I feel like those of us that are power users (that's what this switch is targeted at anyway, right?) need the ability to control things a little more.

Re: Safe Mode
I like the way UBNT has it. We are a UBNT shop and we are all familiar with how that works and it works great for us.

Re: Safe Mode
FYI.
This still bugs the crap out of me.
I am in the lab setting up a new switch to deploy, spent about 30 min making sure I had everything correct. Hit apply.
Due to all the vlans on it the way my home lab is, I was not able to access the darn thing to confirm my changes which were 100% accurate.
Had to spend more time just to get my network setup to access it AFTER the changes.. ugh..
I still vote 100% for a test/apply mode.

Re: Safe Mode
I agree it should be my choice to use the mode without having to adjust a timer. This bites me from time to time if I'm making a change that I know will kick me out and forget the timer is set short and it reverts my changes before I can get back in to it.
Maybe we just need to be more mindful of the timer and turning it on and off....
