You need to make sure both switches have the same Speed/Duplex set.
Another words one side cannot be 1G and the other Auto.
I would set both side to 1G Save/Apply and then plug in the SFP modules and cable and if that does not work remove the modules and change to Auto and Save/Apply then insert the modules and cable.
Sometimes you have to re-seat the module after changing speed/duplex, all depends on the module.
Also as mentioned some SFP modules interfere with I2C communications which you can see on the Device/Status page when the module is inserted as voltages and temperatures will not be reported correctly but will return to normal when you remove the module.
I have never seen a network device that worked will ALL SFP manufacturers, not even Cisco....especially Cisco I should say.
