Re: fan speed
You can achieve this with the following options:
1) Decrease the room temperature
2) Increase the airflow in the device
As i know these switches are not designed to fulfill residential - home applications but you can always use them by having in mind of that aspect.
The Fan speed is auto regulated by the device to maintain proper temperature and the Unit takes in consideration the Wattage comsumpiton of the POE ports and the Air Temperature.

Re: fan speed
Two options... you could go with the MINI which is fanless or you could go with the full size rack mount version that has more fans so can run slower.

Re: fan speed
Please do not attempt to HACK the fans, that is a small board and generates heat.
The fans NEED to run at the speeds they are designed to run at.
If you want a switch without fans buy the WS-6-MINI which is designed and tested to run fanless

Re: fan speed
Well it was either back to 12 POE bricks, or disconnect the fan. I disconnected the fan and removed the top case. Here's the stats, is anything going to blow up? Glad to see that it doesn't seem to care that the fan isn't working, I was afraid it would go into some failsafe mode or something.

Re: fan speed
Yes those Temperatures are too warm, your going to burn it up.
The MTBF is based on average operating temperature and this is on the HIGH side.
This unit is designed for air flow.

Re: fan speed
Since you have now opened the device why dont you try to use an 120mm silent pc fan (if it fits on top cover)?

Re: fan speed
those reported temperature readings are fine, it will not burn up..it will run forever at these temperatures.
