Feature Request: WISP Switch TACACS Support

Sun Sep 24, 2017 10:20 pm

Hello All,

I'm looking to see if there are any plans in the works for the WISP switch to support TACACS for AAA. If not is there a way to enforce authentication of documenting/accounting the commands issued by a user on the switch via something like a Syslog server.

Thanks in advance for the help.

There a linux library for TACACS+ support so it could probably be done.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/tacplus/

But I would not expect it fast if accepted since the team seem busy on new devices comming soon. Every currently implemented feature like MSTP and ERPS seem on hold for serveral month now.

Edit: Some doc from cumulus linux that could help a TACACS+ implementation.

Hi All,

Understandable, I will review the suggested linux library with my SysOps team to see if we can get it sorted out. If it were to be accepted what would be a realistic time frame? 1stQ 2018?

Thanks for the quick reply's on my post BTW. Much appreciated.

I'm new to working with these WISP switches so was wonder how I might get access to the code base to implement and submit for future TACACS support.

Thanks again.

Your not suppose to but could always go into the linux CLI and check what you can do. Just type "cmdline" in the switch CLI.

If/When we have a working setup for TACACs; how would I go about submitting for the feature to be added? is there a process I need to follow?

Thanks again all for the assistance.

I'll add it to my list of potential new features.
