WS-26-400-AC Stops responding GUI and Pings but passes trafi

Thu Nov 21, 2019 3:54 pm

Hello, i found a similar post but did not want to hijack it as it is no the same model.

WS-26-400-AC is acting up

It has been working fine for a couple of months.
We sent some techs to install new radios and running test enabling PoE disabling and disabling the port to prevent loops while installing parallel links. etc

Suddenly, the switch stops responding pings, and no more web Gui.
How ever it keeps passing traffic as normal. :???:

The issue is we need to cut the power to it to restore access and that does irritate the users, plus it requires a truck-roll

Other than that we love our Netonix switches
please advice
we are running

Firmware Version
1.5.1rc8

Ah yeah this was an issue in the older firmware, as soon as you get access again, upgrade to v1.5.5 and this should stop.

In the mean time, the problem is related to ARP which can prevent your local table's from being updated. It will respond to a request, but it won't automatically push the update when a topology change occurs (this is what is fixed in the latest version)

When we were stuck in this situation, we found that deleting the ARP cache on your the computer you're trying to access the switch from can help. If the switch is deep in a network away from you it might be more complicated, but try this first:

If you are on a windows box,
open a command prompt as an administrator then run:
Code: Select all
arp -D *
ping <switch-ip>

This clear's the ARP table and initiate's a broadcast which should resolve the IP<-->MAC via ARP and thus give you back access.
Post here how this goes for you. If it doesn't work we'll try to think of something else.
