WS-12-250 - Fan Replacement

Hey everyone!
I've been using my original two units for my homelab environment and found that the fans really get loud and a bit annoying when they're running indoors in my office. Where I work 5-6 days a week. All the time.
Here's a quick Imgur gallery of steps and photos for what I did to replace my fans in two WS-12-250-AC units.

FULL DISCLOSURE: This will void your warranty, and I'm sure Sirhc will say that this is a bad idea (and he's probably right, lol).
That being said, I took the ambient volume from the switches from around ~35dB to ~19dB, and I'm very happy with the results. Board temp does not appear to have taken any hits, but will continue monitoring it.

Ironically I use my WS-12-250s to mark the change in season - right now I can't wait for the fan noise again

Funny story... the fans seemed to be running an awful lot this autumn and my office seemed a little warmer than normal.
Sure enough my heatpump was on the fritz. LOL

Also, as a note on your fan replacement...the fan you chose will be fine for a climate controlled office, but possibly not (depending on install location, etc) for the real non-environmentally controlled WISP environment.

Your replacement fan is indeed much quieter, but can also only push 5.9 CFM's of air, while our production fan can push 10.8 CFM's. Basically, most fans with less than 6 CFM's are quiet compared to fans with over 10 CFM's.

If you've read this far, don't do this mod in a real non-environmentally controlled environment. I did this BECAUSE it's in a climate controlled office.

Out of curiosity, would a Noctua 40mm fan also work the same? Would it need the same modification to the wires as the linked set of pictures shows? I have a similar situation where I want a Netonix switch next to my desk in a studio environment but the stock fan is too noisy.

@danmanners, have you upgraded to rc12 on this modded switch and if so how well does the new fan profile work?
