SFP port speed

Sat Mar 12, 2016 5:06 pm

For the most part, if you're using fiber SFP there is no real need for anything but gig port. I bought a couple rj45 SFPs from fs.com, and they work fine when plugging in a gigabit device, but some of the cheaper laptops (mine) don't have gigabit ethernet. So my laptop does not get any lan connection when plugged into the SFP (yes, it is a 10/100/1000 SFP)

I noticed that the 1.3.9 FW has gig or auto for port speed, but does not seem to like 100. Is there any way to make the SFP ports 10/100/1000?

So, are you suggesting Auto, 100, and G as Link choices for SFP (i.e. add 100 to the list of choices)?

There is a need for other than gig SFP... some of us have a bunch of 100Mb fiber connection (hundreds in my case)... for now.

Auto works with 1.3.9 and 100Mb fiber SFP - they come up as 100M-F with flow control as they should. It probably wouldn't hurt to be able to force the speed to 100Mb.

Odd that it doesn't work with copper SFP - have you tried forcing your laptop to 100Mb full instead of auto negotiation?
