Some other systems I work with, when I clear the log it would write a new entry into the log afterwards that so-and-so from IP whatever cleared the log whenever. I think that is a good thing to know who cleared the log so that I can ask them why.
Sure, I understand that if I want posterity that I should be using a central syslog but still, if I went to look at a log and found it was recently erased, I would want to know who erased it without needing to scour the syslog server.
