Gettings keys to old Nextel shack at cell tower

I signed the deal on the local water tower, but we talked nothing about ground space. (The city is clueless to this all).
Sprint and Nextel used to be on the tower, but now only sprint, and sprint's gear is all outside on a platform. There is a nice concrete hut that was brought in for Nextel years ago that is just sitting there. All the cable is cut, the meter is pulled, etc.

So when a carrier leaves a site, they leave their mounts on the tower, and they leave this hut behind, who owns it now? Nextel or the city?

I want to use it, but I don't want the city thinking they can charge me for it. Or do I call nexttel and ask them for the codes for it?

Anyone deal with something like this before?

Pretty sure the township now own the hut as it was abandoned

I would let sleeping dogs lie. You might remind them that their mounts are still there and they go retrieve them. Also, if it is a combination lock they probably use the same combination on multiple sites so they cannot give them out.

definitely don't call lol, let it be. Cut the lock. I'm not sure about Nextel, but I've managed huts for Verizon and AT&T and they both very very typically have the same gate and door combinations throughout an area. If this is a combination door knob, a local locksmith can remove that for you.

Good points everyone.. I'll see what my buddy at the dept of pub works thinks about it and probably get a locksmith to get us inside it.
