Heavy duty radome
Heavy duty radome
So what's the primary reason for this? I'll be putting up a new 3.65 link and getting the full kit. We're right on the coast and get crazy wind and a boatload of rain. Is the extra thickness just to prevent physical things from blowing into it and breaking the radome?

Re: Heavy duty radome
Some people wanted a thicker stronger radome so I did it for them.
Trade off is 1 dB of loss compared to 0 dB with our normal one.
In 5 years at my WISP I have had to replace 1 radome in service which I suspect got hit by a bird after 4 years and it was dried out so it cracked easily.

Re: Heavy duty radome
Ive had several covers fail after over the past 3 years. Perhaps it's something in the good-ole Southern Illinois air, but they seem to make great bird houses and in one case a gigantic wasp nest.
That being said, what's the best way to procure some replacements?
